Superbugs and MRSA

Some notes regarding Essential Oils roll in killing MRSA Superbugs and MRSA (Golden Staph) Did you know: ▪ 25 million pounds of antibiotics are used annually in animals that we are going to consume? ▪ 1 million pounds per year of triclosan (an antibacterial agent) is used in soap, cleaners and toothpastes ▪ This overuse of antibiotics has led to superbugs (germs which are resistant to antibiotics). This includes common staphylococcus, and triclosan-resistant bacteria strains ▪ Nearly 1000 people per year are dying in the UK of MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus = Golden Staph). 100,000 people die per year of hospital acquired infections ▪ More than 50% of the staph infections in hospitals are now from MRSA ▪ There are 2 million hospital-acquired infections reported annually in the USA - Approximately 70% of these are resistant to at least 1 antibiotic ▪ 2 expensive antibiotics were tested against MRSA with limited positive effects. The side effects of the antibiotics however were: nausea, vomiting, stains on developing teeth, and potential foetal harm. Science 257:1950 ▪ University of Manchester tested Patchouli, Geranium, Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea Tree) and Lavender oils and found them all active against MRSA. ▪ Dr. Eugene Sherry of the University of Sydney tested Melaleuca alternifolia against MRSA and found that it resolved MRSA infections in 22 out of 25 people. (co-authored with H. Bock and P. H. Warnke) ▪ Case Study: There was a man who had a MRSA infection in the bone for 2 years. He was given multiple antibiotics, with no success. The doctors were going to amputate. He heard about phytochemicals, and was put on Eucalyptus radiata, Melaleuca alternifolia, Lemongrass and Clove, and all of the infection was gone in 3 months using these essential oils. ▪ An aerosol mix of oils wiped out tuberculosis, killing it in 40 minutes! ▪ Essential oils studied for their effectiveness against MRSA on PubMed include: ◦ Melaleuca alternifolia, peppermint, geranium, cinnamon, orange, grapefruit, patchouli, lavender, lemongrass, thyme, Eucalyptus radiata, spearmint, lemon, myrtle, clove and mountain savory ▪ “The reason essential oils are so effective is because they are made up of a complex mixture of chemical compounds which the MRSA and other superbug bacteria find difficult to resist.” –Jacqui Stringer, clinical leader of complementary therapies, Christie Hospital, Manchester ▪ Eucalyptus radiata is specific to lungs, and Myrrh is the most highly anti-infectious oil. Putting Myrrh and Eucalypus radiata in a syringe up the rectum is a direct pathway to the lungs in 3 seconds. Myrrh is also great to put on your skin (eg. Face).

Emotional issues

A few events in my life over the past few weeks have caused me to sit back and reflect on Life. For the most part life is good and I am very fortunate to have many things to be grateful for. However, there were still a few events in my younger years that caused some emotional turmoil. The death of close friends, actually my very first boy friend died when he was still in 8th grade, then a close girl friend when we where in high school. There were a few other life
changing experiences caused some deep emotional trauma. The majority of us have faced some type of emotional trauma in our younger years that quite possibly has lingered with us into our adult years. I recently have experienced the loss of my fur baby after losing her father in April, on the top of that some friends that didn’t understand my upset, that I expected would, added to the upset.

The society we live in today is full of emotional turmoil. More than ever, researchers are delving into the impact that emotional states have on the physical condition of the body. Many doctors are discovering the possibility of emotional problems linked back to childhood and how they can compromise the physical body. Fear and trauma can produce conditioned emotional responses that,
unless released, will hamper our ability to live and enjoy life fully.

In 1989, researchers agreed that the “amygdala” (there is one on each side of the inner brain) plays a major role in storing and releasing emotional trauma and that aromas have a profound effect in triggering responses from the amygdala. Dr. Joseph Ledoux of New York Medical University was one of the first to suggest that the use of aroma could be a major breakthrough in helping to trigger the release of pent up emotional trauma.

There are many essential oil blends that have been created precisely for the purpose of helping to release emotions. D. Gary Young has developed an emotional clearing protocol using essential oil blends. The following is a sample of what he suggests:

1. VALOR: This should be the first blend used and applied to the bottoms of your feet when starting emotional clearing.
2. 3 WISE MEN: This was formulated to open the subconscious mind through pineal stimulation to release deep-seated trauma.
3. HARMONY: This blend promotes physical and emotional healing through harmonic balance of the energy centers of the body.

7 Harmful ingredients in your soap?

7 Harmful Ingredients in your soap? Really?

Many people don't realize how harmful these chemicals can be, that is exactly what they are chemicals. Take a look if any are in your personal care products, I can guarantee they are, because they are cheap and the manufactures make a huge profit at the expense of your health. Look at this list below and at the end of the list I will provide a link that you can go to, to find a safer solution for you, your family, and even your pets.

Certain chemical ingredients can potentially cause problems for your skin when applied as a liquid or bar soap and are best avoided.
The 7 ingredients topping the "To Avoid" list include…
1. Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate (SLS/SLES)
Sodium lauryl sulfate is a surfactant, detergent and emulsifier used in thousands of cosmetic products, as well as in industrial cleaners. Present in nearly all shampoos, toothpastes, body washes and cleansers, liquid hand soaps, laundry detergents and bath oils and bath salts.
Although SLS originates from coconuts, the manufacturing process results in SLES/SLS being contaminated with 1,4 dioxane, a carcinogenic byproduct.
SLS is the sodium salt of lauryl sulfate, and is rated by the Environmental Working Group's (EWG) Skin Deep Cosmetics Database as a "moderate hazard."
SLS breaks down your skin's moisture barrier, easily penetrating skin, and allowing other chemicals to penetrate by increasing skin permeability by approximately 100-fold.
Combined with other chemicals, SLS becomes a "nitrosamine", a potent class of carcinogen.
Research studies have linked SLS to skin and eye irritation, organ toxicity, reproductive and developmental toxicity, endocrine disruption, neurotoxicity, cellular changes, possible mutations and cancer.
2. Dioxane
Common in a wide range of products as part of PEG, Polysorbates, Laureth, and ethoxylated alcohols. These compounds are usually contaminated with high concentrations of highly volatile 1,4-dioxane which is easily absorbed through your skin.
This "probably carcinogen to humans" substance has received a "high hazard" rating from EWG's Skin Deep and is especially toxic to the brain, central nervous system, kidneys and liver.
A synthetic derivative of coconut, watch for misleading language on labels, stating "comes from coconut".
Avoid any product with indications of ethoxylation, which include: "myreth," "oleth," "laureth," "ceteareth," any other "eth," "PEG," "polyethylene," "polyethylene glycol," "polyoxyethylene," or "oxynol," in ingredient names.
3. Parabens
Widely used as preservatives in an estimated 13,200 cosmetic and skin care products, parabens have been connected with breast cancer in studies.
They have hormone-disrupting qualities mimicking estrogen, and can interfere with your body's endocrine system. Studies have shown that parabens can affect your body much like estrogens, which can lead to diminished muscle mass, extra fat storage, and male breast growth.
The EPA has linked methyl parabens in particular to metabolic, developmental, hormonal, and neurological disorders, as well as various cancers.
4. Propylene glycol
A common ingredient in personal care products, it's been shown to cause dermatitis, kidney or liver abnormalities, and may inhibit skin cell growth or cause skin irritation.
Also found in engine coolants, antifreeze, rubber cleaners, adhesives, and paints and varnishes.
5. Diethanolamine or DEA
DEA readily reacts with nitrite preservatives and contaminants to create nitrosodiethanolamine (NDEA), a known and potent carcinogen.
DEA also appears to block absorption of the nutrient choline, vital to brain development.
6. Fragrance
Toluene, made from petroleum or coal tar, is found in most synthetic fragrances. Chronic exposure is linked to anemia, lowered blood cell count, liver or kidney damage, and may affect a developing fetus.
Synthetic fragrances can also be drying and irritating to your skin.
7. Triclosan
The antibacterial agent added to many liquid hand soaps to help kill germs. Triclosan is suspected of contributing to the growing problem of antibiotic resistance.
Triclosan Can Transform Into Something Even More Dangerous
Here's something else you may not know about that innocent-looking bottle of liquid hand soap sitting next to your sink.
When triclosan mixes with the chlorine in your tap water, chloroform is formed, which the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has classified as a probable human carcinogen.
And when combined with other disinfection byproducts (DBPs) in your tap water, this chloroform can raise the concentration of dangerous trihalomethanes (THMs) above the EPA's maximum allowable amount.
Trihalomethanes (THMs) are Cancer Group B carcinogens, meaning they've been shown to cause cancer in laboratory animals. Disinfection byproducts (DPBs) have also been linked to reproductive problems in both animals and humans.
Not only do you absorb them into your skin, these antimicrobial chemicals flow down your drain, contaminating the environment and food chain.
So, let me ask you… do you really want to put triclosan, SLS, parabens, dioxane, DEA, toluene, synthetic fragrances and propylene glycol (along with other chemicals we haven't even talked about here) on your skin?
In my opinion, you're better off switching to skin care products made of natural plant names you recognize, can pronounce, and could even eat (if you had to).

As promised the link, www.youngliving.org/468819 once there go to products, then personal care, and check it out. Oh, by the way, you will see the retail prices, I can get you started with wholesale prices too.

ADHD and Essential Oils

In doing some research on the subject of ADHD and essential oils it was very interesting to discover that it also can be a deficiency in the way we digest our foods. That makes sense to me because an allergy or sensitive to a food causes me to become anxious and sometimes nervous until that food or chemical passes out of my system. So what about our children? Could that be their problem as well? Today with all the processed foods and the way they are processed we just can't digest them. Therefore we become intolerant and allergic to them. In turn causing decencies in many areas including the brain. Creating ADHD and ADD. If we use essential oils, perhaps we could give our kids and advantage. First I will quote the reference to essential oils and then the reference to digestive enzymes.

According to the Essential oil Desk Reference:
Are essential oils for ADHD useful? The study Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) by Terry S. Friedmann, M.D., measured the brain waves of children with ADHD. He divided the children into three groups and gave them one of three essential oils to inhale three times a day for thirty days. He then measured the brain waves again. The results were as follows:

* Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides) calms and balances the nervous system and at the same time stimulates the circulatory system. The vetiver group showed a statistically significant improvement.
* Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica) has high a concentration of sesquiterpenes, which improves oxygenation of the cells of the brain. The cedarwood group showed an improvement but it was not considered statistically significant.
* Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) has both a sedative and a stimulating action. The lavender group showed no improvement.

The Essential Oils Desk Reference recommends if you want to try vetiver for reducing the symptoms of ADHD, diffuse it for 15 minutes four to eight times a day.

Most children are growing up on food that is enzyme depleted. Because of that they do not get the minerals they need an excellent solution to that is Ningxia Red and mineral essence. Both a great sources of minerals we need.

For more information go to: http://charla.myningxia.com

So not only do essential oils help wonderfully but in combination with something that will provide really good nutrition, it can make a huge improvement as well. We are supplementing the whole person.

More on amino acids

Hi Everyone, last time I wrote about Nitric oxide and how important it is to our bodies. Today I want to expand on another source of amino acids to help us produce it naturally. Young Living has a product called MultiGreens, and as spring approaches we like our earth based ancestors, start to seek a lighter palate of salads, fruits, and vegetables. They may have known something we don't and that is the spring greens are a tonic. Helping us rid the body of excess fat and impurities collected during the long months of inactivity during winter. Our VitaGreens provide all of the things we need to cleanse, and fortify us, plus provide the very amino acids naturally that helps us produce the Nitric oxide I talked about last time. Below is a list of what it contains,

Choline bitartrate, bee pollen, barley (hordeum vulgare) grass juice concentrate, spirulina (spirulina platensis), Eleuthero (Eleutherococcus senticosus) root, alfalfa (medicago sativa) leave/stem concentrate, Pacific kelp (laminaria digitata) whole thallus, MultiGreen™ Oil blend (Rosemary [rosmarinus officinalis CT cineol]† leaf, lemon [citrus limon]† rind, lemongrass [cymbopogon flexuosus] leaf, melissa [melissa officinalis]† leaf/flower), Amino Acid Complex (L-arginine, L-cystine, L-tyrosine) and gelatin.
