Anti-bacterial properties make them highly effective for sanitizing, disinfecting, deodorizing and air purification as well.
Some essential oils make excellent toxin free cleaning agents for removal of grease, oil, carpet stains, crayon, etc.
Powerful anti-oxidant properties in some essential oils make them amazingly effective in anti-aging, energy and health giving applications both alone and when combined with supplements.
And of course, nothing beats the power of essential oils in personal care products for skin, hair and personal hygiene.
Let's take a look at a few of the products that you might use in your home. As you read the list -- notice which oils you could be using instead.

Understanding Grades of Oils
When I was new to essential oils, something that
I learned really quickly was that there is a BIG (really important)
difference between the types of Essential Oils. For all I knew, oils were oils,
and even though I knew about lavender scented products in the grocery store I
had no idea about the possibilities of transforming my health, naturally, with
Essential Oils. Let me explain, all Young Living Essentials Oils are therapeutic
grade and Earth Kosher-Certified. That means care has been given to every
single drop, to ensure that the medicinal properties have been retained.
There are 4 Grades of Essential Oils:
• Grade
A oils are pure therapeutic quality and are usually made from organically grown
plants distilled at the proper temperatures using steam distillation.
• Grade
B oils are food grade; they may contain synthetics, pesticides, fertilizers,
extenders, or carrier oils.
• Grade
C oils are perfume grade and may contain the same type of adulterating
chemicals as food grade oils. They usually contain solvents which are used to
gain a higher yield of oil per harvest. Solvents are normally cancerous.
• Floral
Water is a byproduct of the distillation process, a very high quality if it
comes from a Grade A distillation process. Accordingly it is of low quality if
it comes from poor quality raw materials and or poor distillation processes. It
is usually found in skin and hair products.
BTW a word on Floral Water, Young Living does not sell Floral Water since the FDA requires the distiller to pasteurize it. As you know once something is pasteurized it kills the properties, so if you are buying floral water know that you are actually wasting your money. Young Living spreads their floral water back into the fields.
"I learned of the oils during a meeting
unrelated to essential oils and at a time when I was spending good money to
supplement my. I now know that essential oils greatly enhance the body's
absorption of nutrients , and add exponentially more concentrated effectiveness,
not to mention the almost intangible "feel good" benefits I am still
discovering. I call it Feeling Fitness as I believe the oils most profoundly
heal at the level of feelings and attitudes, in addition to the physical. I have always enjoyed the smell of some oils,
but it has taken me years to appreciate the inherent wisdom of how they work
within me, and the people I have had opportunity to share them with. Young
Living Essential Oils have brought me some very miraculous moments, and I'm
certain that they will bring you some too." Tim Owen
A WORD ABOUT PURITY
Do not be fooled! Young Livings oils are
therapeutic and medicinal. They are derived directly from the plant (as
intended by our Creator) not in a laboratory. They are never
extended/adulterated with chemicals. Don’t think that you can purchase less
expensive essential oils and get the same results. I made that mistake myself and for that
reason I thought like many people did that they really didn’t work or it was
just another gimmick.
ADULTERATED OILS AND THEIR DANGERS
Today much of the lavender oil sold in America is
the hybrid called lavandin, which is cut with chemicals to improve the
fragrance. Then solvents are added and it is sold in the United States as
lavender oil. Most consumers don't know the difference, and are happy to buy it
for $3 to $10 per half ounce in health food stores, beauty salons, grocery and
department stores, and through mail order.
Some people wonder why they do not get the
benefit they expected and conclude that essential oils do not have much value.
Most likely, they purchased either a synthetic or adulterated oils. Adulterated
and mislabeled essential oils present dangers for consumers. One woman who had
heard of the ability of lavender oil to heal burns used "lavender
oil" purchased from a local health food store when she spilled boiling
water on her arm. But the pain intensified and the burn worsened, so she later
complained that lavender oil was worthless for healing burns. When her
"lavender" oil was analyzed, it was found to be lavandin, the hybrid
lavender that is chemically very different from pure Lavandula angustifolia.
Lavandin contains high levels of camphor (12-18 percent) and can itself burn
the skin. In contrast, true lavender contains virtually no camphor and has burn
healing agents not found in lavandin.
Adulterated oils that are cut with synthetic
extenders can cause rashes, burning, and skin irritations. Solvents can all
cause allergic reactions, besides being devoid of any therapeutic effects. Even
so-called "nature identical" essential oils (structured essential
oils that have been chemically duplicated using 5 to 15 of the essential oil's
primary chemical compounds in synthetic form) can produce unwanted side effects
or toxicities. Isolated compounds may be toxic; however pure essential oils, in
most cases, are not. This is because natural essential oils contain hundreds of
different compounds, some of which balance and counteract each other's effects.
So, quality does matter -- and your health is
worth it. I'm available to speak with you about your Young Living products, and
to answer questions that you may have.
To your health,

Hi Everyone,
For all the new people to essential oils I thought I would write a little bit about what they are, those of use that have been using them for years sometimes forget that there are still a lot of people that really don't know what they are.
The goal of this message is to share educational information with you.
Let's begin.....
Essential Oils are aromatic liquids. They are distilled from flowers, trees, roots, bushes, and seeds of plants. The distillation process is what makes essential oils so concentrated. It often requires an entire plant or more to produce a single drop of distilled essential oil. For example, it takes thousands of flower petals to create the drops that are in a single bottle of rose oil, and adding just one drop of peppermint oil to a glass of water has approximately the same concentration as 20 bags of tea. The practice of using essential oils is commonly referred to as aromatherapy, and is used for physical and psychological well-being.
The picture in the upper left corner is Ylang Ylang, it is a really beautiful sweet smelling fragrant plant and when Young Living distills it, it comes out smelling exactly like the leaves of the plant. BTW that picture was taken at the Young Living Farm in Ecuador by yours truly. Not every oil company can boast of having their own farms. Young Living takes pride in all of their farms.
Essential Oils have a millennium-long history of use in healing and in religious ceremony throughout the ancient world. Some, particularly frankincense, are repeatedly cited in many Judeo-Christian and Muslim religious texts. Others, such as myrrh, lotus, and sandalwood oils were widely used in ancient Egyptian purification and embalming rituals. Still others, such as clove and lemon, were highly valued as antiseptics hundreds of years before the discovery of modern antiseptics. In ancient times, oils were respected for both medicinal and their healing properties.
Mankind's First Medicine
Essential Oils are often referred to as "Mankind's First Medicine". In fact, there are over 200 references to aromatics, incense, and ointments throughout the Old and New Testaments of the Bible (36 of the 39 books of the Old Testament and 10 of the 27 books of the New Testament mention essential oils or the plants that produce them.)
A note to readers: for best results, use only pure and natural products; referred to as therapeutic grade, like Young Living Essential Oils. I'll share more information about producing therapeutic-grade essential oils in later issues.
Here is the personal testimony of a Holistic Medical Professional, who understands the power of Essential Oils. "These essential oils truly represent the new frontier of medicine." --- Terry Friedmann, M.D., Co-founder of American Holistic Medical Association.

Essential Oils: Dermatitis Is Almost A Thing Of The Past
Essential Oils: Dermatitis Is Almost A Thing Of The Past
Many people have problems with Dermatitis and forms of it. So do your self a huge favor and understand that the body is lacking something, most likely Sulfur. Now that is not the Sulfa in anti biotic form that a lot of people are sensitive to. This is Sulfur that occurs in fresh foods and vegetables. Unfortunately you have to go out and pick your veggies fresh because within about 10 to 15 minutes the sulfur dissipates much like like the Vitamin C on our oranges once cut. Therefore I have discovered that any issues that have to do with hair, skin, or nails is made better with a product we have called Sulfurzyme. It is also good for people with chemical sensitivities to help combat that as well. It takes care of scar tissue too. It is a great product.
It comes in a bottle with 300 capsules because you can take up to 10 a day if need be, spread out through out the day. Do yourself a favor and learn more about all of our products at Young Living.

Benefits of Diffusing
Benefits of Diffusing
The easiest and simplest way of putting essential oils into the air for inhalation is to use an aromatic diffuser. A cold air diffuser uses room-temperature air to blow the oil up against some kind of nebulizer. This breaks the oils up into a micro-fine mist that is then dispersed into the air. The oils, with their oxygenating molecules, will then remain suspended for several hours to freshen and improve the quality of the air. The anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and antiseptic properties of the oils kill bacteria and help reduce fungus and mold. Essential oils, when diffused, have been found to reduce the amount of airborne chemicals and metallics as well as help to create greater spiritual, physical, and emotional harmony.
Recommended Diffusing Time
While a diffuser can run continuously until it is out of oil, the greatest therapeutic benefit is received by diffusing oils for only 10 minutes out of an hour so that the olfactory system has time to recover before receiving more oils. This also helps to conserve your oils. A simple way to do this is to use a programmable timer that can automatically turn on your diffuser each hour for 10 minutes.
Oils for Air Purification
Diffusing essential oils in the home or work place is one of the best ways to purify our environment. The anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and antiseptic properties of the oils, along with the negative ions and oxygenating molecules that are released when essential oils are diffused, all help to reduce chemicals, bacteria, and metallics in the air.
Cinnamon bark, mountain savory, oregano, and Thieves (a blend by Young Living Essential Oils), were all tested by Weber State University and were shown to kill 99.96% of the airborne bacteria present when diffused into the atmosphere.
The information above is from the Reference Guide for Essential Oils by Connie & Alan Higley, and from KID-Radio broadcast, March 5, 1996 with Lance Richardson & Gary Young.
Negative Ions
Negative ions are produced naturally by wind and rain. They help stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system which controls rest, relaxation, digestion, and sleep. If you live in a stressful environment, or an environment full of electronic equipment (which produce positive ions), the diffusion of negatively ionizing oils can help balance the ions in the air and produce a more stress free environment.
Oils that ionize negatively when diffused include: bergamot, cedarwood, citronella, eucalyptus (citriodora), grapefruit, lavandin, lavender, lemon, lemongrass, mandarin, orange, patchouly, & sandalwood.
Positive Ions
Positive ions are produced by electronic equipment and are typically found in man-made environments. They help stimulate the sympathetic nervous system, necessary for recovering, strengthening, and energizing. If you live in an environment with an over-abundance of negative ions, such as in the country or by the ocean, you may benefit greatly by diffusing positively ionizing oils.
Oils that ionize positively when diffused into the air include: cajeput, clove, cypress, eucalyptus, frankincense, helichrysum, juniper, marjoram, melaleuca (quinquenervia), palmarosa, pine, ravensara, rosemary, thyme, & ylang ylang.
Oils for the Season: Fall/Winter
Fall and winter connote an earthy, heavy scent, rich with the traditions and memories of the holidays.
Oils that work well during this time include: cinnamon bark, pine, cedar, cedarwood, fir, frankincense, juniper, myrrh, orange, sandalwood, vetiver, nutmeg, oregano, spruce, tangerine, & thyme.
Oils for the Season: Spring/Summer
Spring and summer connote a light, airy scent, full of life, energy, and possibly a hint of romance!
Oils that work well during this time include: cardamom, citronella, coriander, eucalyptus, geranium, ginger, grapefruit, jasmine, lemon, peppermint, rose, spearmint, & ylang ylang.

Kill Bacteria and Viruses Naturally
Essential Oils are available both as "singles" and "blends." Singles are a specific plant (such as rose or ylang ylang) and a blend is the combination of two or more single oils. In this message, I will share information about a very popular oil blend; Thieves.
In ancient times, sweet smelling oils were respected more for medicinal properties than scent, while today the opposite is true. Most of modern society is ignoring the greatest attributes of essential oils--their health-giving properties.
The History of Thieves™
Europeans began producing essential oils in the 12th century. During the Plague of the 15th century, certain thieves were able to rob the dead without fear of becoming infected by the terrible disease. After being captured and charged with robbing the dead and dying victims of the plague, the thieves were offered a deal. The magistrate offered them leniency if they would reveal how they managed to avoid contracting the dreaded infection, in spite of their close proximity with the infected corpses. They disclosed that they were perfumers and spice traders, and that they had rubbed themselves with a concoction of aromatic herbs (cinnamon, and clove).
Thieves™ Blend was found to have a 99.6 percent kill rate against airborne bacteria!
When Ancient Tradition Links with Modern Society: Thieves™ Blend Fast forward - 20th century, Young Living Essential Oils begins testing Thieves™ Blend, a proprietary combination of cinnamon, clove and rosemary essential oils for its potent antimicrobial properties. Thieves™ Blend was found to have a 99.6 percent kill rate against airborne bacteria. According to the Essential Oils Desk Reference (Essential Science Publishing, page 125), Studies conducted at Weber State University during 1997 showed the antibacterial effectiveness of this blend against airborne microorganisms."
Thieves™ Blend Product Line: Kill Bacteria - Naturally.
Thieves™ Blend is so effective and popular - that there is an entire line of germ fighting products to choose from: Sore Throat Lozenges; Household Cleansing Spray; Bar Soap; Foaming Hand Soap; Toothpaste; and Mouthwash.
"Our family uses Thieves™ Blend. I get everyone I know to use this blend and especially the school teachers I know it works great in the class room.
